Enrichment Programmes
Foundation Programme
Every Department arranges orientation programme for five days to the new entrants at the beginning of the academic year to familiarize them with the Institution, course structure, code of conduct, KATT, GBS and other facilities available in the college to enable them to acclimate with the main stream of teaching & learning practices.
Bridge Course
The Bridge Course conducted at the beginning of the academic year enables the new entrants to accustom themselves with the new environment of higher education. The Course Book has been compiled by the Dept. of English and the course is conducted for ten days. Realizing the necessity of communicative skills to compete in the global market, Spoken English Classes are arranged for the students, especially to the first year students. They are given practical training in the language laboratory.
TIID (Teachers Individual and Institutional Development)
The model classes for faculty on effective teaching and learning methods is conducted for continuous assessment and evaluation process. Language Proficiency Enhancement Programmes & Digital Literacy are also conducted regularly towards professional competency.
Guest Lectures
Experts and eminent personalities from industries, academicians, senior executives and business persons are regularly invited to interact with the students and share their expertise and experience.
Class Room presentations
Presentations by students on subject - related as well as general topics form a part of our co-curricular activities, as these enhance their interpersonal communication skills and help to develop their overall personality. The Smart Classrooms are introduced to enhance the teaching and learning practices.
Seminars / Workshops
Every department organizes National and International level seminars and workshops and conferences regularly. The students are adequately motivated to participate and present papers in these seminars. They are also encouraged to present papers in seminars and workshops organized in other institutions and universities.
e-learning & Resources
The concept of e-learning is reinforced by encouraging the students to enroll in the online courses through SWAYAM and NPTEL. The Google online tools in the teaching-learning methodology are introduced in the system. Our college is registered as one of theNPTEL Local Chapters.
e-Governance
The campus is upgraded by introducing online system such as voting for the student council election, collecting feedback from various stake holders. Assessment test on foundation course is also conducted through online facility. e-Governance is also extended for recording the absentees and the performance of the students. The details in connection with the absentees and the performance of the students that are maintained in e-governance are forwarded to the parents and guardians. College provides Integrated Data Management Centre(IDMC) towards effective data management and retrieval
Projects
The final year students are asked to take up projects and internship in institutions and industries. This provides opportunities to students to acquire practical knowledge.
Industrial Visits
The students are taken on a tour to places of importance and industries to give them exposure and direct experience of what they have learnt.
Mentor System
The Mentor System is functioning effectively in the college. A small group of students are assigned to the individual care and attention of a teacher who keeps a close watch over the academic progress of the students and also the problems of the students.
Slow & Advance learners programme (SALP) / Peer tutoring
Priority is given to the progress of the slow learners by organizing Remedial classes. Necessary study materials are given to them. Advance learners in each class are asked to help the slow learners under the Peer Tutoring System.
GEMs [Gear up Extraordinary Minds] Programme
Special attention is given to advance learners and extra provisions and facilities are made available to them to help them come out with flying colors.
Apart from regular assignments in core subjects, research & contemporary advances relevant assignments are also given to advanced learners, which require the students to refer to various sources of information including textbooks, journals, magazines and online resources, to develop their research aptitude and deepen their understanding of the subject.
Student Council
The Student Council comprises of young women leaders governing the rules and regulations of the College. The Students Council instills the leadership qualities, self-confidence, and empowerment, preparing the young minds to face the emerging challenges. It serves as the bridge between the management and student Community to promote the spirit of unity and integrity.
Parent Teacher Association
The PTA of Bon Secours College functions effectively with a motto of building a healthy forum to discuss the holistic development of the students and to facilitate academic progress. The PTA addresses the aspirations of the parents pertaining to the overall transformation of the students, through ECHO programme. (Effective Criticism and Healthy Outcome)
Student Welfare Committee
The student welfare committee extends its helping hand to the destitute, underprivileged and economically backward students, through 'MANNA' and 'SAFE' programme.
